No question trade shows are one of marketing’s biggest budget line items including exhibit construction, storage and transportation, erection and space rental, don’t forget about staffing and travel expenses. Consequently, the planning of the trade show is very important and should be the first step to attending.

When planning for a trade show you want to research, set goals, what you are going to focus on and display.

What do you want out of attending a trade show? It is very important to decide what you want because then you can set goals. Do not set to high of goals, you want goals that are attainable. A couple of goals to consider is how many sales you can acquire or how many people you can get to sign up for a giveaway or even meet people interested in your products or services.

  1. Types of Trade Show Displays

9 types of trade show displays to consider:

Pop-Up Displays: Pop ups provide movability, are easy to setup, have a lower price and many customizable options for multiple exhibits. They are mostly used as a solid-looking back wall. Custom graphic panels can be added for higher effect, making your booth stand out with a significant message. An accordion frame is used allowing for mounting printed fabric or graphic panels to create one large graphic wall.

Panel Displays: Panel systems are more structural and many more applications can be done with them. Standard panel systems can be used for back walls or table top displays however for a little more investment you can purchase a custom panel system because you can use them to make a large island exhibit that includes back lighting, product presentation, bridges, counters and more.

Hybrid Displays: Hybrid displays offer a modern look to exhibiting by using metal frame design, graphic dye cut panels, counters, led lighting and more.  Hybrids are a great custom looking step up in value from standard pop up display making your company stand out more without spending a lot of money..  They are portable and easy to setup.

Truss Displays: Truss display systems can be powder coated in a range of colors, covered with graphics, made into chairs, counters, shelves, podiums and displays. A truss can be used for any type of display. Truss comes in a countless of looks from the large stage lighting truss you see at concerts and conventions.

Tension Fabric Displays: Tension fabric exhibits use aluminum poles, Velcro and displays a large custom fabric graphic to create a beautiful wall or displays.  Many of the same accessories can be used on this type of display such as monitor mounts, lighting, shelving, counters and more. Tension fabric systems offer custom shapes and a unique look.  Most tension displays collapse down for easy shipping and are a breeze to set up.

Hanging Displays: Does exactly that! Hang from high above allowing your message to be seen across the floor. These systems have a large variety of shapes like rings, square and pyramids by using pillow case graphic attachments. Most conveniently fit inside a small carry case and are easy to setup.

Graphic Tent Logo Canopies: A lot of grocery stores, special events, festivals and such utilize these the most. These are great for cover from weather elements as they display your logo.

Pipe and Drape Displays: Pipe and drape systems are what are usually used to separate the trade show booths and other areas of an event.

If this is your first trade show you may not have a history of costs to have a successful exhibit. Therefore you will need to come up with an “estimated budget”. When figuring the total trade show expense will run about three times the cost of the exhibit space. As an example, if your exhibit space for a trade show cost $4000, your total budget will be about $12,000.

It is vital to your success to tell people you will be there, in other words you want them to put you on their list!
